Despite the condensation dripping from the roof, Cat, as over-abundantly full of energy as she always was, had bounced her way in, a towel wrapped around her head, and another around her body. This was her first time at a sauna—the closest thing to one she's been to being the springs at Circhester once when she was barely over nine years old—and much like any new experience Cat tackles, she'd been excited to give it a go.[break][break]

Especially considering she'd be hanging out with Lilith! While the two more or less travelled somewhat consistently together, going off on their own wasn't really abnormal, and had been happening a little more often as of late. Suffice to say Cat had been missing her first and closest friend in Hoenn and was excited for this get together again—even if they hadn't been apart for particularly long.[break][break]

Unfortunately though, Björn had sat this one out, her Perrserker seeming to prefer an actual soak over steam. Such a thing had come as a bit of a surprise to Cat, and she couldn't think of any pokémon of hers that she'd usually keep on-hand nowadays that'd particularly enjoy the experience, the rest staying with her grandparents back at Dewford instead.[break][break]

"This is kinda cool..." she'd said aloud with awe, inspecting the wooden bench, the ladle and bucket, and the hot coals in the centre. She'd taken a couple breaths noticing the sheer dampness of the air—where a sharp enough breath made it almost feel like you could drink the air from just how much steam was already rising up.[break][break]

"That's so cool!" she'd reaffirmed with excitement, throwing her hands up in the air from just simply the different feeling from simply breathing. Finally sitting herself down by falling onto the bench after her elated praise.

[attr="class","hanatext"]The heat has never sat well with her. Funny when she thinks about it. And yet, she's here, avoiding the public eye as she gently unwraps the bandages from her arms.

"They'll just get soaked." She whispers, carrying her Zorua into her arms as he quietly licks at her scars. Yule had refused to join due to her snowy nature, while Rubia and Hex seemed more than happy to keep themselves dry. So the duty of being her company fell upon Eclipse's shoulders, not that he actually minded.

Stepping into the sauna room, Lilith is briefly comforted by the sight of steam, the wisps of smoke curling and breathing with life. And beyond that blurry veil is a rather curious fool, one so easily impressed by simple architecture that it brings nothing but hints of worry to her heart.

"Have you never been to places like this before...?" A question comes before the greeting, a brief nod given as she settles her Zorua onto the bench. "It's easy to overheat, so just... sound out if you feel unwell at any point."

Quickly sitting herself down on one of the seats, Cat had without hesitation—brimming with child-like curiosity—finagled with the ladle and bucket of water, putting two and two together, and threw a ladle-full of water over the hot centre of the room, a sharp sizzle echoing throughout the room as the water evaporated almost immediately.[break][break]

""Hmmm? Mmmm... nope! I went to Circhester... once? As a kid, but we only ever went to the hot springs there, which was pretty nice!" Cat had replied cheerily, though the memory clearly distant with how much it took to muster it, and the overall vague unsure tone in Cat's voice. Though with Lilith's warning registered, Cat had stared at the resulting vapours rising from her previous action, a rather internal 'oops' in her mind as the heat felt more noticeable.[break][break]

"Make sure to keep an eye on yourself too, Lili! Or actually, I'll watch for you too!" Cat said with a grin, whilst patting a spot near where she'd been seated, insisting for Lilith to sit there with a cheery smile, "I think I might go challenging a Gym soon!" Cat had announced, hoping to kick start one of their usual conversations when they'd meet up as per usual, a proud little smile on her face with almost uncharacteristically haughty laugh echoing through the room. She'd been excited and keeping herself up for nights mustering the courage to try, and declaring it like this was her way of making sure she wouldn't get cold feet.

[attr="class","hanatext"]She sees what Cat's up to but doesn't make any effort to stop her. After all, more steam means more cover for her flaws and she's got more than enough to probably write a book about it.

"Heading to the hot springs might be good... next time though." Even when her gaze is placed elsewhere, her fingers idly trace her scars, jagged imperfections that mar the image she's meant to project. "So, which gym do you plan on challenging? Quite a few new gym leaders have showed up... each have a bunch of non-traditional challenges... or are you the kind that just prefers a regular pokebattle?"

Even though Cat motions for her to get closer, there's only so much Lilith is willing to move before she feels her personal space has been intruded upon. Still, Eclipse is more than happy to be the gap closer, settling himself between the both of them as he vigorously shakes to remove the water soaked into his fur.

"They looked really nice and cozy here, that'd be fun!" Cat had cheered happily at the thought of visiting the hot springs, though her attention had been somewhat too focused on the rising steam—and the fact that she didn't quite feel like it was particularly hot enough, despite Lilith's warning. Curious about how it worked, Cat had done the only reasonable thing—and heaped another helping of water onto the hot coals, a satisfying sizzle roaring out the moment the water made contact.[break][break]

With a childish awe-struck smile she'd watched as the steam rose then dissipated almost immediately. Though eventually she turned back to answer Lilith's question, "Hmmm, I was thinking about heading to Pacifidlog? Björn likes the water and I figured that'd be where he's most comfortable... I was thinking of just doing a normal old battle first? I wanna know what it's like battling someone like a Gym leader!" she'd said with a happy grin.[break][break]

"I reckon we can do it! But... if things don't work out, I do want to try out the non-traditional challenge too, heck maybe try it out anyway if I'm allowed!" She'd added on, reaffirming her own confidence, refusing to be disheartened by any of her own inhibitions. She'd happily scruffed up the Zorua's fur atop its head, giggling at the rather silly look she'd given it before trying her best to comb it back down.[break][break]

Cat had overall noticed something was amiss from her friend's body language, or at least, thought it was odd for her to be tracing over her own body like before, though she'd opted to stay quiet about it, she'd considered herself and Lilith friends, and was mature enough to know that prying tactlessly wouldn't do any good. Instead, she probably wouldn't bring it up unless Lilith herself did, or unless it had caused her any major concerns. She hadn't thought much of Lilith's inhibition to get any closer than she had, the young Galarian girl was aware that she was a bit overly touchy-feely at times.[break][break]

"How about you? Any plans, Lili?" she'd asked with a grin.

[attr="class","hanatext"]Cat's definition of fun is most definitely a skewed one, but one that probably arises from her lack of experience. A vast expanse of land that lays upon the horizon, promises of adventures and mayhem carried upon foreign winds - She's obviously swept up by the excitement of striking out on her own.

"Gym challenges can be rough, but most of the leaders here seem more focused on teaching a lesson. Show that you understand and you usually come out on top." As if it were their duty to teach the next generation of trainers how to act, they would go around feeding them morals that should have existed within their heart to begin with. But if she were to undergo their trials herself, would she be able to meet the expectations set?

Did she even hold a shred of the heart that they sought after? Did she even possess a heart for others anymore?

Eclipse's little yowls of protest jolts her out of her swim in the overflowing thoughts, a hand instinctively reaching for the fox and combing his slicked fur back.

"No plans... Just wandering the region..."

And getting herself involved once more in that scarlet trade - She lies about her intentions, but it's for the sake of protecting herself. Cat has no need to get herself caught in the webs of the dead, merely needs to keep her cheerful self and remain a light for others.

"Same as always... travel the region, see what it has to offer, then move on."

The young Galarian had slowly simmered down, finding the warmth of the sauna very much so comfortable. She'd felt a little bad that most of her pokémon either couldn't fit or weren't able to do so, thinking that the hot environment was most certainly something that anyone could enjoy.[break][break]

Nonetheless she'd smiled at Lilith's response, "Oooooh, is that so? That sounds really cool... if that's the case I think I'm definitely going to try and see if I can try both challenges!" she'd explained enthusiastically, though, admittedly Cat had no idea if she was allowed to do such a thing on short notice. She'd busied herself hyping herself up, using this opportunity for relaxation as a time to think up strategies for the upcoming challenge. She'd been far too busy mumbling to herself, taking a brief moment to notice Lilith's next response to her other question![break][break]

"Hm... is that so? Take some pictures for me! Or if it's super duper extra cool, take me there! Pleeaaaaase?" she'd asked, instantly breaking off her chain of thought to insist to hang out with her close friend, "If I find a cool place, I'll do the same too, of course, Lili!" she'd grinned, turning to Lilith happily.

Found wasn't quite the right word. Enticed it with strange carrots seemed like a more apt description.

"Everything seems to be centralising in this region... curious, isn't it?"

"Oh, a horse...? Like a Rapidash? They're pretty, aren't they? I heard outside of Galar their manes are made of fire! I've always wanted to ride one but, maybe not if it's on fire~" Cat smiled in response, seemingly unaware of what sort of horse Lilith had been speaking of, she hadn't been much of a history or myth buff so much as just making sure she'd be having a blast out in the great outdoors.[break][break]

"You mean all those news reports and stuff about Legendary and Mythical pokémon?" Cat had asked curiously, bending forward a bit to try and see Lilith's face, hoping to make sure she was understanding what Lilith was talking about by gauging her expressions. Though she'd paused briefly before adding on, "maybe they just like it here, it's a beautiful place after all!" she'd smiled.

"Glastrier...? Hm... mmm... maybe..." Cat had paused and was in deep thought, had she heard of something like that?[break][break]

"Mmmmm... nope! Nothing, sorry!" she'd said after what seemed like an awfully long time wracking her brain for any slight sign of the name 'Glastrier', for Cat, while she was extremely meticulous when it came to studying up on how to best handle situations in the great outdoors, and she'd be able to tell you all sorts of things like how to tell apart poisonous berries from edible ones, fire starters, ways to get clean water, and even setting up little huts just about anywhere, she wasn't really much for history beyond 'how cool are fossil pokémon, right?!', despite being Galar-born, she hadn't heard much of their own legends and myths.[break][break]

Nonetheless, for Cat, she kind of preferred it that way anyway, not knowing made finding these cool and wondrous things all the more exciting, after all![break][break]

"Yeah... I sorta get that but, we just gotta do what we can, right? Besides, if something bad happens, we've got each other and our pokémon to rely on!" she'd said with a smile, though it was left somewhat vague if by "each other" she specifically meant the two of them or just on a more general case of 'if everybody works together we can do anything', though with Cat, the latter usually was more likely.

And then it falls to silence, an awkwardness entangling with her fingers as she begins to pick at her nails.

"So uhm... have you... met anyone new?"

Try as hard as she may, she really isn't going anywhere good with her conversation starters. Has it really been that long since she's found someone bearable to talk to?

"Hoenn has... a lot of interesting figures, after all..."
